Years on the WYASD Board of Directors: Three

    Occupation:  Marketing Account Executive

What makes West York awesome from your perspective as a School Director and a District resident?
Our tight-knit community and dedicated teachers make West York awesome. Also, our smaller district gives students more opportunities to be a part of different teams and activities.

What do you hope to accomplish as a WY School Director in the 2022-23 school year?
I hope to accomplish another year of NO tax increase and help continue to create a positive environment for students.

What would you say the most important issue is before the Board right now?
Implementing new ideas for discipline to get a hold of behavior problems which may help lessen distractions in the classroom and provide a better and more focused learning environment for all students.

What would you like the community to know about the West York Area School District?
We are a proud district that aspires to the very best for all our students and wants to lend a memorable and rewarding experience while molding them into respectful, prepared citizens. The district needs community input and participation for awareness to provide success for all students.

What makes West York's mission, Every Student Every Day, powerful for you?
That we embrace each student's unique qualities and needs to prepare and guide them to find their passion for success once they graduate.

Where do you see the District in 5 years, 10 years, and 20 years, and how do you see your role on the Board as an integral part of this?
I would hope we have a better handle on behaviors while respecting our teachers and fellow students to learn in a positive environment. I support new ideas for focused studies without distraction. I would also like to see the district continue working within its budget to ensure fiscal responsibility while providing top-quality education.

Where might we find you on the weekend?
With my family on a soccer field, skiing, hiking, or boating.

What might people be surprised to know about you?
I went paragliding off the Swiss Alps.

What is one piece of advice you would share with our High School seniors?
There is a great big world out there to explore. Find something you are passionate about and invest some time into it. Once you start working, set aside funds each month to save for the future.

What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?
Besides being on the School Board, I would find it fulfilling to help people achieve their fitness goals.
