This communication supersedes all previous communication.



       The first semester is officially over, and the District will begin the second half of the 2020-2021 school year on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. District administrators, faculty, and staff are already looking ahead to spring events and how that might look for student and community participation. Please be on the lookout for information from principals as we progress through the coming months.


Important Information and Reminders: 



       York County is still in a substantial transmission designation, so the District will continue to operate the same educational model since the beginning of the school year.  

  • All buildings are open for M/T/Th/F in-person learning. 

  • Wednesday remains a distance-learning day for all. 

  • The High School continues to operate on the A/B schedule.  


       When the county is no longer in the substantial designation, we will communicate how that change will impact each building’s instructional model. Our first change will likely include bringing high school students back to the same schedule as other district schools (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday).  


       The substantial designation means that we will still monitor capacity limits on indoor events, other than in-person classroom learning, per Governor Wolf’s orders.  This means that sporting events, board meetings, etc., have minimal options for in-person attendance. 


       As a reminder, when we have cases to report, those cases will be recorded on the COVID-19 Dashboard.  At a glance, the Dashboard shows where we stand with the number of documented cases in a West York school setting and within a rolling 14-day period. A documented case includes any confirmed or probable case of COVID-19 when the individual was physically present in the school setting during the infectious period, including but not limited to instruction, work, sports, or extracurricular activities. We will continue to communicate all documented cases.


       If you’ve not already done so, please take a moment to follow the links below to stay up-to-date on the latest guidance and how that may impact you and your families with regard to any travel you may be planning:


       If you have any questions about any of these orders, you can contact your child’s building principal or Nurse Cindy Rose. Please continue to monitor symptoms and report them to our school nurses, along with any testing for COVID-19 and close contact with any positive cases. The symptom monitoring tool and nurse contact information can be found in the Family Information Packet

       All of the above meetings will be virtual for the public until further notice.  Please visit our website for information on how to attend.   


Student Meal Programs- Update

       We have received notice from the USDA that they have extended the free breakfast and lunch program through June 30, 2021. This is terrific news for our families and means that all breakfast and lunch meals across the District shall be provided, free of charge, to ALL students. This includes pick-up meals for WY Cyber Academy students as well as meals for anyone 18 and under who reside in our District. Please follow your child’s home building guidelines for ordering pick-up meals. At the secondary level, a second meal may be purchased at the regular meal rate. Spectators at Sporting Events

       While spectators at District events are limited, everyone may watch these events via live stream when they resume. Winter athletic livestream links can be found here


Building Visitors

       All visitors must complete a screening form and have their temperature taken at each building. They will be expected to adhere to posted guidelines for social distancing to include wearing facemasks until further notice.
