Wellness Program

The West York Area School District, as stated in our WYASD Wellness policy, believes that healthy bodies create healthy minds.

We invite you to review our Wellness policy and send feedback to Nicholas Cirko via email.

The Wellness Committee is dedicated to serving our district and welcomes participation from our parents, students and community members.  Our Wellness Committee meetings offer a time for all stakeholders to participate in the development, review, update and implementation of our Student Wellness Policy.  Wellness Committee meeting dates and times are posted on our District Events Calendar and are also announced on the Home Page of this website.

We’ve included some resources families may find useful for making good choices about nutrition.

Smart Snacks in School

All foods available in District schools during the school day will be offered to students, with consideration for promoting student health and reducing childhood obesity, in accordance with the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. Those foods outside the school cafeteria will be prepackaged and include complete ingredient lists.

The Smart Snacks in School regulation applies to foods sold a la carte, in the school store, vending machines, and any other venues where food is sold to students.  Please note this also applies to food for classroom parties, classroom snacks, and non-sold competitive foods
