• Years on the WYASD Board of Directors: Newly elected!

  • Occupation:  Owner & Operator at Yorktowne Property Shoppe

What would you say the most important issue is before the Board right now?

The COVID-19 pandemic is currently the biggest issue being faced by our community, therefore it is the most important issue before our Board at this time.

What would you like the community to know about the West York Area School District?

WYASD strives to equip our students to thrive in the real world with integrity, empathy and respect. Starting in Kindergarten, our students are taught the principles of being their best Bulldog self -

to be kind, to be respectful, to be a friend and to help others. It is the district’s goal to empower each student to succeed in today’s competitive society.

What makes West York's mission, Every Student Every Day, powerful for you?

Our mission is powerful because we strive to meet the needs of all our students who walk through our buildings. WY teachers & administration have worked diligently in ensuring all our students are continuing to receive quality education while we navigate uncharted territory during the pandemic which aligns with our mission “Every Student Every Day.”

Where do you see the District in 5 years,10 years, 20 years,

and how do you see your role on the Board as an integral part of this?

I envision the District to be even more diverse in the next 5, 10 and 20 years. I feel my role on the Board would play an integral part in ensuring our students and community members see representation on our Board. We need voices, opinions and knowledge from people from diverse backgrounds in order to continue to make well informed decisions as a Board.

Where might we find you on the weekend?

At home with my family, enjoying takeout and Netflix.

What might people be surprised to know about you?

People are surprised to learn I am an immigrant & moved to this country when I was 13 years old.

What is one piece of advice you would share with our High School seniors?

Stay focused on your dreams & work hard to achieve them. Hard work always pays off.

What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?
