• Years on the WYASD Board of Directors: 2, newly elected Board President

  • Occupation: Attorney

What would you say the most important issue is before the Board right now?

How best to communicate with those in our school district.

What would you like the community to know about the West York Area School District?

The West York School District is an exceptional District! The community is very connected and supportive of the school. I believe everyone wants what is best for our students.

What makes West York's mission, Every Student Every Day, powerful for you?

Every Student Every Day has meaning because it is a realistic goal for West York because of the size of our school district and because of the commitment of our teachers, administration and Board Directors.

Where do you see the District in 5 years,10 years, 20 years,

and how do you see your role on the Board as an integral part of this?

In 5 years, I see West York as being a trend-setting school district that other schools will be looking to because we have been very proactive in regards to many things including our school security and our partnerships with other entities. I see our school buildings as being safe and convenient gathering places for our community. In 10 years, I see our school maintaining our financial stability and continuing being proactive in many areas including communication with our parents. In 20 years, I believe the above statements will still be true!

Where might we find you on the weekend?

Working on my house. Running and biking. Spending time with my family and my dog, Clara. Maybe sampling a craft beer. Also, doing some legal work.

What might people be surprised to know about you?

I am not sure. I view myself as somewhat shy and reserved - not sure if that would surprise people or not.

What is one piece of advice you would share with our High School seniors?

Appreciate the simple things - have conversations with each other, family (including younger siblings and grandparents), and teachers. Use your phones for good- take a lot of pictures! Live in the moment and enjoy your high school years! Get outside your comfort zone and try something new! I know that is not one piece of advice but it's all good!!

What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?

You mean other than be on the School Board! I would probably still be a lawyer.
