Trimmer Elementary offers a high-quality education to students in fourth and fifth grades. Our teachers use a variety of instructional strategies to ensure each student receives instruction in a manner that maximizes his/her ability to be academically successful. These strategies are based on a differentiated instruction model, which includes brain-based research and data-driven interventions. Trimmer Elementary offers art, music, and physical education as well as special education programs.

Additionally, Trimmer’s faculty and staff strives to provide a positive environment that promotes student success as we collaboratively work toward “Every Student Every Day.”

Welcome to Trimmer Elementary School. Our school educates students in grades four and five and resides in the West York Area School District. Student achievement is driven by a curriculum that centers on the Pennsylvania Core Standards, which is delivered by highly qualified teachers and specialists in student-focused, learning environments. We also have an excellent group of support staff members who work with our students in various capacities at the direction of our certified teachers.

The Trimmer faculty is dedicated to meeting the unique needs of individual students throughout the learning experiences. We strive to maintain an appropriate yet rigorous balance between the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of our students. Our teachers present instruction through differentiated methods to develop the strengths and areas of growth in all students. Both our Everyday Mathematics and our Balanced Literacy programs present learning in a spiraling approach. This provides students the opportunity to interact with concepts in a variety of methods and with increasing skill mastery.

Our philosophy is a team approach in which parents are encouraged to participate in their child’s learning experiences daily. These opportunities include scheduled parent activities, homework time, parent/teacher conferences, workshops, PTO sponsored activities and volunteering in our school.

Our PTO is a positive and energetic group of parents and grandparents who meet every other month. Their goals and activities represent and support our journey to academic excellence and partnerships between the school and home. The funds that are raised for the PTO are dedicated to enhancing our school curriculum with assemblies and presentations, as well as various climate/culture boosting activities throughout the school year.

We are a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support) school that works through the MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) framework. All of our Bulldogs aim to meet the expectation of PRIDE (perseverance, respect, integrity, discipline, engagement). Ask your child how they meet these building expectations daily.

Let me once again welcome you to Trimmer Elementary School. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Today is a great day to learn something new!

With Bulldog Pride,

Jenna L. Sloan
