May 24, 2020

Greetings, West York Area High School students and families,

We hope this letter finds you safe and well. With the end of the school year quickly approaching, we wanted to communicate our plan for students and families to come to the high school and retrieve personal items that have been collected out of all lockers, bagged, and labeled for students. Please know all items not picked up will be discarded.

Additionally, we are asking students to please turn in all obligations. Such obligations include, but are not limited to:

  • Textbooks, novels, library books, uniforms, music, instruments, locks, and monetary obligations

The week of June 1st will be dedicated to this retrieval and turn-in process. We would greatly appreciate it if you have multiple items to turn in, that you please bag those items and label the bag with your student’s name. Additionally, we are asking you to display a sign with your first and last name on your car window. At no point during this process should anyone be exiting a vehicle. Staff members will be available to meet you at your car and assist as needed.

Monday, June 1, will be dedicated to seniors only.

12 P.M. - 3 P.M.

Seniors and their families should adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Using the band lot entrance, please stop at the tech ed wing door to drop off your Chromebook. Please make sure you turn in the power cord as well.

  • This is also where you will turn in all other obligations (textbooks, locks, money owed, uniforms, etc.) and pick up senior gifts and t-shirts (if you ordered one).

  • Proceed to the main entrance where you will remain in your car to retrieve personal items that were left in your lockers.

  • Please see the attached map to follow upon your arrival.

Tuesday, June 2, and Wednesday, June 3,

will be dedicated to all other students.

8 A.M. - 7 P.M.

Students and their families should adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Using the band lot entrance, please stop at the tech ed wing door to turn in all obligations (textbooks, locks, money owed, uniforms, etc.).

  • Proceed to the main entrance where you will remain in your car to retrieve personal items that were left in your lockers

  • Please see the attached map to follow upon your arrival.

We look forward to seeing you the week of June 1st. Thank you, Bulldog families, for all of your patience, flexibility, and understanding during these difficult times. Distance Learning was a challenge for everyone and we could not have been successful in our efforts without your support.

Please continue to take care and stay safe this summer!

With Bulldog Pride,

Carrie Jones

Principal

West York Area High School houses grades nine through twelve. We offer a diverse educational program and encourage our students to choose courses that will help them succeed in the career of their choice. The majority of our graduates go on to post-secondary education or specialized training; many others enter the workforce or the military.
Our high school operates on a two-semester, six-term, four-period-a-day block schedule. We provide our students a solid foundation in core academic courses as well as offering a wide variety of electives including arts and humanities, business education, technology education, family and consumer science, and world languages.

Our program also includes opportunities for students to attend the local technical school or specialized centers on a part-time basis. Our seniors may also choose to participate in career internships and diversified occupations programs. Most importantly our dedicated Faculty and Staff are committed to the idea of Every Student Every Day.
