Greetings High School Bulldog Families,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones doing well during this challenging time. I would like to thank you for your support and patience during this time of uncertainty. All of us are struggling to get used to this new “normal” and we cannot do it alone. In the coming days, we will need to continue to stay connected and help one another in new ways. As we venture into “distance learning,” there will be a learning curve for all of us. Let’s have patience with each other as we navigate these uncharted waters. This community has demonstrated perseverance, camaraderie, and spirit that is unparalleled. I have no doubt we will get through this together and will emerge stronger than ever before.

Please know your teachers and staff members are here for you as well. Our staff has been working extremely hard and have put in many hours over the past couple of weeks to make this new learning possible for all of our students. The next two weeks will be important to maintain open lines of communication. Students, please take advantage of your teachers’ office hours and reach out if you need support or simply want to check-in with your teacher. We all would love to hear from you! Teachers will be using Canvas moving forward as well, the learning management system all secondary students will use to engage students in “distance learning.”  This is where assignments, videos, and resources will be posted and will also be where students can turn in work. Please be sure to use the District-issued Chromebook as we are able to support you if any technical issues arise.

Personally, I am also trying to juggle working from home and meeting the needs of my family.  Carter, my 8th-grader, is working through his classes online and Calvin, who is in first grade, is starting to learn about Zoom while still struggling to understand why he can’t have his friends over to play. Meanwhile, the dogs are loving daily walks and are benefiting from the extra cooking and baking taking place. I am enjoying more time with my husband and children, but I miss my school family and students very much. I am definitely ready to see hallways filled with teenagers again!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support, patience, and flexibility. Stay safe and healthy!

With Bulldog Pride,

Carrie Jones
