WELCOME TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL - Temporary Distance Learning Page
A MESSAGE FROM
Mr. Anthony Campbell
May 24, 2020
Greetings, West York Area Middle School students and families,
We hope this letter finds you safe and well. With the end of the school year quickly approaching, we wanted to communicate our plan for students and families to come to the middle school and retrieve personal items that have been collected out of all lockers, bagged, and labeled for students. Additionally, we are asking students to please turn in all obligations. Such obligations include, but are not limited to:
Textbooks, novels, library books, uniforms, music, instruments, and monetary obligations
Monday June 1st through Wednesday June 3rd will be dedicated to this retrieval and turn in process. You will be able to drop off and pick up your materials and the middle school gymnasium, doors 23 and 24 from 8 - 11 am and 12 - 7 pm. Please follow the enclosed map.
We would greatly appreciate it if you have multiple items to turn in, that you please bag those items and label the bag with your student’s name. Additionally, we are asking you to display a sign with your student’s first and last name on your car window.
We look forward to seeing you the week of June 1st. Thank you, Bulldog families, for all of your patience, flexibility, and understanding during these difficult times. Distance Learning was a challenge for everyone and we could not have been successful in our efforts without your support.
Please continue to take care and stay safe this summer!
With Bulldog Pride,
Please check back daily for updates and additions.

At West York Area Middle School we believe that every child is uniquely able to achieve academic and personal success! But we know that each of these successes will look different because they are starting with different goals, different learning styles, and different interests. As a result, we’re determined to teach in a way that’s conducive to every student. At WYAMS you’ll find academic teams of teachers and students modeled after the “school within a school” philosophy that hints at the higher success rates of smaller schools.
Two core teams of teachers exist at each grade level. In addition to the core subjects, students participate in an exploratory curriculum including wellness, technology, and computer education, art, music, family and consumer science, and exploratory reading. We also offer courses in Spanish and German to our eighth-grade students. These exploratory courses allow students to discover additional avenues of interest and success.
By utilizing the “school within a school” mode, we are continuing our commitment to using our resources wisely. Students are developing a greater feeling of community and school pride which improves attendance. Our teachers are also experiencing more autonomy in developing curriculum and meeting the needs of their students. We are truly embodying the idea of Every Student Every Day.
