    A Message from Mr. Roth

    Hello Bulldog families!

It is a blessing to be here with you as the new assistant principal at West York Middle School, and I am so excited for all that the 2023-2024 school year has in store.

I was raised in Beaverton, Oregon, where, as an aspiring veterinarian, I also attended Oregon State University, earning a B.S. in Animal Sciences with a focus on Pre-Veterinary and Equine studies, with minors in chemistry and fish & wildlife science. After being admitted and spending a year as a medical student in the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine, I followed my true calling to education, where I spent eight years teaching Honors Biology, Advanced Human Anatomy & Physiology, Environmental Science, Animal Science, and Veterinary Science at the high school level in Mesa, AZ. I began my administrative career in 2015 and have worked in school administration in both public and charter schools, covering grades K-12 in Maricopa, Gilbert, and Mesa, AZ.

My wife (originally from Anchorage, Alaska) and I currently reside in York with our three beautiful children ages 12, 7, and 5. We met while I was teaching in Arizona, and after many months of research came to the realization that Pennsylvania has so much to offer and would be a perfect place to finish raising our children. We love the outdoors and look forward to many adventures: hiking, biking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, playing in the snow, and riding our three horses, Reese, Sparky, and Arrow. We also love U.S. history and love the close proximity to all the sites! PA is where it’s at!

My passion for education is continually fueled by students achieving things they never thought possible. They are the driving force behind what I do, and are at the center of each decision I make. I strive to provide an environment where every student feels comfortable and safe so learning can thrive. Thank you, parents, for being an active part of your child’s education. I am grateful to partner with you to help your child reach his/her full potential!

     With Bulldog Pride,

Assistant Principal, West York Area Middle School
